The translation of learning theological truths to practicing living theology is a tough process. Memorizing that "God loves us" and "God will never leave us nor forsake us" and reciting it to ourselves or even encouraging others with it takes on a totally different meaning when we receive news of imminent disaster or catastrophe and have to muster all we know about God and through the confusion of the mind, remember and believe that, " God loves us" and "God will never leave us nor forsake us". And I have learnt through much desperation and humility that that is what FAITH really is.
I fear that many Christians have not lived beyond theological truths [some may not even know what are theological truths], even though they may even teach & counsel hurting hearts with God's truth... for their comfortable and non-threatened lifestyles clearly reveal so.
But for those whom God chooses to unlock and quicken those words from His precious book and aflame it in their hearts and life through the fiery furnace, I only ask that He gives them strength for every trial and grace to bear in time of need so that we can all through the fire, see and glorify our Father in Heaven. The following passage has struck me several times this year...perhaps that is what the real Christian life really is.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
The LORD God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.
To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.
Dear Lord, when all else seems to the fail,
help us STILL to rejoice in You, the God of our salvation.
